Edit a message

Sometimes you send a message and immediately notice that a detail is missing, or that you want to phrase your question differently. Instead of starting a new chat, you can edit the message you already sent. DentroChat will write a new answer for your updated wording, while keeping the original version in the chat so you don’t lose it.

On a computer

A cursor opens Edit on a message you sent. The wording becomes editable, with a check to confirm it.

Hover over the message you want to change and click the pencil icon (Edit message), which sits right next to Copy.

The message turns into a text box so you can rewrite it. Once you are happy with the new wording, click the checkmark (Confirm edit), and DentroChat will answer the updated message.

Although a new answer is generated, your earlier version is not deleted. Small arrows appear above your message (for example 2 / 2) so you can switch back and forth. Whenever you return to an earlier version, the answer that belonged to it comes back as well.

On a phone

On a phone, tap the message and choose Edit. Because the screen is smaller, your text moves into the message box at the bottom of the screen instead of opening in place. Change the wording there and tap the checkmark to send it, or tap Cancel above the box if you change your mind.

What you can change

You can only edit messages that you wrote yourself. Replies from DentroChat cannot be edited, but you can copy them if you want to reuse the text and change it elsewhere.
