Manage your files
When you work with files in DentroChat, you might need a copy of a file you uploaded last week or view an older edit. This page explains how to open a file, copy or download it, delete it, and look through its earlier versions.
To add a file, see Upload images and files.
Open a file
Click a file in
- your Workspace
- one of your messages
- in a DentroChat reply.
The file opens in a preview over the chat. When you close it you get back to the chat.
Copy the text of a file
Text files, such as notes, Markdown, CSV, and code, have a Copy button at the bottom of the preview. Click it to copy the whole text into your clipboard. Later you can paste it into another app.
Download a file
Click Download at the bottom of the preview. The file is saved to your device under its original name. This works for every file type, including photos and PDFs and more.
Delete a file
Open the file, then click the trash icon (Delete file) at the bottom of the preview. The button changes to Click to confirm, so click it again to delete the file.
Once it is gone, the file leaves the Workspace and older download links stop working. This cannot be undone, so be sure you’re deleting the right file.
See the edit history
When DentroChat changes a file, the earlier versions stay available for 30 days. Open the file and click the clock icon at the top right of the preview to see the Edit history. Each edit shows how long ago it happened. The version that the DentroChat agent works with is marked as Current.
Click an earlier version to show its contents in the preview. Use Highlight changes to show or hide the marks that show which words were added or removed. If you realize you want to revert to an earlier edit, click Restore this edit to make it the current file version. Other file versions aren’t deleted, but the current file is the restored one.
